Colonel Russell Williams is scheduled for another court appearance in Belleville today. The former commander of CFB Trenton is expected to appear by video link. Williams is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of two women, sex assaults against other women, and 82 other charges related to break and enter. None of the allegations have been tested in court and Williams has not yet filed a statement of defence.
Police are treating the sudden death of a Belleville woman as suspicious while investigation continues. Police arrived at the house on Edgehill Road at 10:00 on Tuesday morning to investigate the death. A post mortem was conducted yesterday, but results may not be available for six to eight weeks. All sudden deaths are treated as suspicious by police so no evidence is missed.
The latest Canadian casualty in Afghanistan is on his way back home. Sapper Brian Collier was killed on Tuesday by an improvised explosive device after dismounting from his vehicle. Canadian troops and NATO allies attended a ramp ceremony last night to say goodbye to 24-year-old. Defence Minister Peter MacKay was among at the ramp ceremony, saying Collier ``gave his life bravely'' for a cause he and Canadians believe in.
According to a recent article in the Toronto Star, it looks like the penny will eventually be on its way out... some people are embracing it, some peolpe aren't. Servers at restaurants are in one of the industries where small amounts of cash can make a big difference. While some servers feel they'll be short changed without pennies, other love the idea of lighter pockets. Steve Woods, a server at Appleby's in Belleville for 20 years, said he welcomes it. "Actually it would probably be beneficial. We always round up anyways," he said. Steve Woods said he doesn't think the penny is necessary at all.
Three people have been arrested through Project Longarm for their involvement in drugs. A search warrant at a Tripp Avenue residence Tuesday evening revealed a quantity of marijuana, cocaine, cash, and scales. Twenty-one-year-old Reeva Proctor from Belleville has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. A 25-year-old woman from Belleville and a 29-year-old man from Pickering were also arrested.
Highway 401 eastbound by Wallbridge Loyalist Road is open again after a collision closed both lanes yesterday afternoon. The collision involved two vehicles and a tractor trailer that was jack-knifed and blocking both lanes.m Two people needed to be extricated, but there were no life threatening injuries.

The Nationals and Reds continue their series in one of five afternoon baseball games. Cincinnati will want a better result after falling to Washington's Stephen Strasburg in an 8-5 loss. Meanwhile, the Padres and Braves resume their series, while the Phillies and Cardinals are also in action.
Ilya Kovalchuk will need to re-think his options. His 17-year deal with the Devils was rejected by the NHL. Now the Russian goal-scorer can either re-negotiate with New Jersey, or re-enter free agency. The deal may yet be saved if the players union fights for its approval.
Mike Weir will tee off today at the R-B-C Canadian Open despite tendinitis in his right arm. The 40-year-old is trying to become the first Canadian in 56 years to win the event. He'll have to contend with 11 of the top-30 players in the world at St. George's.
The Tour de France resumes after a rest day. Defending champion Alberto Contador still owns the overall leader's yellow jersey. The Spaniard holds an eight-second advantage over Luxembourg's Andy Schleck. Canada's Ryder Hesjedal is 10th overall.
