Peel Judo Championships

Three members of the Quinte Judo club traveled to Woodbridge on Saturday for the Peel Judo Championships. This event included the final qualifying competition for the Ontario team, as well as a common competition for other ranks.

In his first event since a late return to Judo this season, Justin Chatten won the under 20 year old – 90 kilogram division for green belts. Justin finished off his opponent early in his two matches, throwing him for the first match, then arm locked him for a submission in the second match.

In the under 13 yrs division, 11 year old Reilly Mandamin had some tough matches. Reilly fought for one win and two losses, to take second place in the heavy weight division for yellow/orange belts.

Finally, Sensei Gil Mooney jumped in for veterans Black Belt division (46-49 yr olds), which wound up being combined with 23 year olds and still pulled off a fourth place finish.

The next event for the Quinte Judo club will be Tora Judo Championships on April 28th, in Brampton.
