Police have charged a man for leaving an empty vehicle abandoned on CN railway tracks. Early Wednesday morning a westbound train crashed into the vehicle that was left on the tracks in Coleborne. There were no injuries in the collision. Michael Behan of Alnwick-Haldimand Township has been arrested and charged with mischief endangering life. He was released from custody and will appear in court on Sept. 7.

OPP will be doubling their efforts to focus on safe boating and driving this weekend. They will especially be looking for aggressive driving, drinking and driving, and people not using seatbelts, restraints or flotation devises properly. They say 16 people died on Ontario's highways, trails and waterways on the Canada Day weekend, and they want to reduce that number this long weekend.

Police have found a man they believe left an abandoned car on a train track in Colborne.

Belleville police and fire say arson was the cause of three garbage fires set early yesterday morning. The fires were started in dumpsters by Front and Victoria Streets.

All area beaches have been listed as safe to swim in for the long weekend. There are no e-coli warnings.

Police are searching for a 48-year-old woman who disappeared from an Ameliasburgh residence on County Road 28 sometime overnight. The woman is petite, has red shoulder-length hair, and was last seen wearing pick pajamas and no shoes. The missing woman has a French accent and speaks limited English. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police at 1(888)310-1122.

The Belleville fire department is looking into three more garbage fires. They have been call to five garbage fires in 24 hours. Tuesday night there were two fires in the downtown core, both believed to be started by discarded cigarettes. After midnight last night there were three more fires in dumpsters downtown by Front Street and Victoria Street. Fire fighters are investigating the situation, treating it as suspicious.

Chewing tobacco and cigarettes are on their way off the field of four local baseball teams.

The missing woman in Ameliasburgh has been found. Police launched a search for the woman early this morning after disappeared sometime overnight.
